Carl D. Hurt was born February 2, 1936 in De Soto, MO. He was the son of the late Carlton E. Hurt and Mabel L. (nee Spangler) Hurt Salisbury, De Soto, MO. He died on January 9, 2012 at his residence in Piedmont, MO at the age of 75 years. He is survived by his wife, Bertha (nee Carter) Hurt, Piedmont, MO; his children, Carla (Rob) Daum, Ripley, TN, Michael (Cheryl) Hurt, Piedmont, MO, Carlton “Gene” (Carol) Hurt, De Soto, MO, Scott (Sara) Hurt, Piedmont, MO, and Shelly (John) Dowd of Covington, TN; two step-daughters, Deborah (Darrell) Fisher, De Soto, MO and Tammy Ames, Bertram, TX; one step-son, Jerry Guffey, Troy, MO; one sister, Cindy Lou Hurt, St. Louis, MO; 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father; his first wife, Cathy (nee Wickerham) Hurt; his second wife, Elizabeth J. (nee Bayles) Hurt; and one sister, Mexie Jean Hurt. Carl served in the U.S. Air Force; he was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in De Soto, MO and attended the Harvest Baptist Church, Piedmont, MO. Carl was owner/manager of FINE Laboratories, Inc. in Piedmont, MO; he worked for 31 years at McDonnell Douglas; and also worked for Hopson Lumber Co. in De Soto, MO.
