Elma Lois Miller was born on May 23, 1927 in De Soto a daughter to Elmer Joseph and Maggie Emma (nee Pierce) VivRett. She died on February 14, 2015 at the Baisch Nursing Center at the age of 87. She is survived by three daughters: Linda (John) Warden, De Soto, Joan (Mike) Hammontree, Hillsboro, and Deborah (Wade) Sherrow, De Soto; one son: John D “Bud” (Sheree) Miller, Jr. De Soto; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister: Vera (Arch) McGougan, De Soto; one brother: Bill (Jeanie) VivRett, Manchester; and a son-in-law: James Wall, De Soto. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: John D. Miller, Sr.; a daughter Mary Wall; and two brothers: Wilford Jackson “Jack” VivRett and his wife Wilma and Robert Kenneth VivRett and his wife Vivian. Elma had been a very active member of the First Baptist Church-De Soto in her Suday School Class, volunteering in the Nursery, and with the Golden Agers. She was also a member andpast Worthy Matron of O.E.S. Chapter #71 (formerly Chapter #15), Royal Neighbors of America, the Red Hat Society, and the Joachim Social Club. She had worked at the Sears Store in De Soto, and as a secretary for Nixon and Blackwell Law Firm. The majority of her working years though were spent working as a caseworker for the Jefferson County Division of Family Services. Rev. Dr. Jeremy Muniz and Elma’s grandson Rev. Chad Hammontree will officiate the funeral service. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Nursery at First Baptist Church-De Soto.
