William P. Hughes was born on Ocotber 12, 1932 in Bedford, OH. He was the son of Joseph William Hughes and Laura Sue (nee Chambers) Hughes. He died on December 1, 2013 at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, MO at the age of 81.
He is survived by his wife Hazel E. (nee Haller) Hughes of Cadet, MO; children, Sharma Gearhart – Lemay, MO; Lynn (James) Hammock – Potosi, MO; Joseph William “Billy” Hughes – Arnold, MO; Jerry (Christine) Kastner – Bloomsdale, MO; Donna (Richard) Bollinger – Bloomsdale, MO; niece, Bonnie (Alan) Lee – Edisto Island, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Dorothy Hughes, and one great grandson, James Dale Winick.
Mr. Hughes was a veteran of the U.S. Navy; retired engineer for Murphy Company; and worked as a plumbing engineer for over 40 years in the St. Louis area. As an expression of sympathy memorials may be given to Grandpa’s Doughnut Money, this is a fundraiser for people who are unable to afford to pay for their prescriptions.
