Virginia Mary “Ginny” Kamp, 85, of Bloomington, formerly of St. Louis, MO, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Ginny was born October 11, 1939, in St. Louis, MO, daughter of Anthony and Virginia (Bergs) Croak.  She married Donald B. Kamp on August 19, 1961, in St. Louis, MO.  He preceded her in death on October 3, 2022.

Surviving are six children, James Kamp of Fairview, NC, Mary (Len) Costley of Hayward, WI, Margi (Greg) Christopher of Bloomington, Cathy (Jesse) Luesing of Downs, Nancy (Brian) Warden of Cumming, GA and Julie (Jason) Kamp-Triefenbach of Portland, OR.  Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Taylor (Sinan) Akkoseoglu, Jake & Lauren Christopher, Josie (Tim) Anderson, Jed Costley, Hunter, Steven & Olivia Luesing, Jack & Tyler Warden and Matthew (Cailyn) Ruck; four great grandchildren, Halime Akkoseoglu, Berkley Costley and Elizabeth & Nolan Ruck.

She was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Kamp; one granddaughter, Molly Warden; one daughter-in-law, Carla Weitzel-Kamp and four siblings, James “Jim”, John “Jack”, Anthony “Bud”, and Mary Virginia Croak.

Ginny graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in 1957 and DePaul School of Nursing in 1960.  She worked as an RN in the maternity ward at St. Mary’s Hospital in St. Louis.  After raising her family, she returned to nursing, becoming a part time nurse for DeSoto Public Schools.  She later volunteered and then became Director of Birthright in Hillsboro, MO.

Ginny was very active in her children’s lives and even served as leaders of both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.  She and Don were members of several Bible Studies and small groups in their home, at both St. Rose and St. Patrick’s churches.

Ginny had a very strong faith.  While a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in DeSoto, she was involved in the Daughters of Isabella, was a ProLife advocate, and after her son’s death, she started a grief support group at the church.  After coming to Bloomington, she was a member of St. Patrick Church of Merna, and was involved in Religious Education, St. Vincent DePaul and continued her passion for ProLife to the end.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Birthright of Hillsboro, 407 3rd Street #4302, Hillsboro, MO 63050.
