I admired Uncle Tommy. He, his lovely wife Gwen, and boys (Tommy and Bobby) made a life together full of memories and happiness. Some of my memories include being in Tom and Gwen's wedding so long ago (they were so in love and excited), riding around in the back of that El Camino, sharing fun times at the few family reunions our family had together, arm wrestling Uncle Tommy when I was just a boy--and he letting me win. Who knows all he experienced in Vietnam. Somehow, he dealt with all the turmoil on his own. For these reasons, Uncle Tommy was always a hero. Soft-spoken, warm, a person easy to talk to, Uncle Tommy was the kind of man any young man would want to become. It pains me that I cannot be there to comfort my aunt and cousins.
