Thomas Edward Akers was born on August 3, 1949 in De Soto, MO. He was the son of George A., Sr. & Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Akers. He died on February 15, 2019 at his home in De Soto, MO at the age of 69.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Penny (nee Stewart) Akers of De Soto; daughter, Autum (Eric) Jennings of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Jack Thomas & Chloe Kathleen; sister, Mary Beth (Dr. Leslie) Reed, Hillsboro, MO and their son, Sam Reed; and sister-in-law, Juanita Akers of De Soto and her son, Alan Akers.
Tom retired from Chrysler after 37 years of dedication, he was a member of UAW 110 & 136. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, watching Cardinal baseball, and relaxing days at the lake. He was a lifelong De Soto resident and will be missed by his family and lots of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother & father-in-law, Jack & Betty Stewart; and brother, George A. “Pete” Akers, Jr.
