Almost a month now...and still so hard to believe. I really miss our talks and the fact that you always made me smile and laugh. You were the only one to understand my silly fears, too, because you had them as well. 🙁 I'll always remember you and am praying for your family and everyone who hurts over losing you. Gah...so much I'd love to tell you right now. Sorry I didn't come here sooner but it would have been too hard. I still don't like the reality...

I haven't been able to do this Jan. I just feel so lost. I have so many memories.... We used to lay in bed at night growing up and talk about how great it would be had we been born sisters. (I don't think our Moms could have handled that!!) You were and are my sister and I miss you so much. I just am so sad.....I see your smile and the tears just flow.... All of the should haves and could haves....I am sorry I didn't call you more or see you more. Time didn't matter with us, I know that....we just picked up where we had left off.....I just can't believe you are gone.....winter, spring, summer or fall.....all you have to do is call and I'll be there, yes I will....you've got a friend. I love you Jan and I will see you on the other side.......Mindy

I first met Jan in 1986; We used to work together. She was so warm, kind and generous and her passing has left a hole in my heart. I love you Jan.

Generous doesn't begin to cover it. You live on in others. Not just in our memories, but in those you gave the gifts of life, and sight at the end. Jannie Bowen was my cousin in life, and she IS my hero in this time of making sense of a senseless situation.

Someday it won't hurt so bad and I'll be able to smile again. Someday the tears won't flow quite as freely whenever I think of what might have been. Someday the answers to "why" and "what if" won't be quite as important. Someday I'll be able to use what your death has taught me to help others with their grief. Someday I'll be healed enough to celebrate your life as much as I now dwell on your death. And someday, maybe tomorrow, I'll learn to accept the things I cannot change...But for today...I think I'll just be sad.I love you Jan.Aunt Alice

Prayers to all of Jan's family and friends during this time. And prayers to her many co-workers at the courthouse. I worked with Jan for a short time there and she was always very sweet and funny. May she be wrapped in the glory of God!

When I was down, Jan always made me smile. And though I, unfortunately, haven't seen her in decades, I know she was probably the exact same, sweet, caring girl that she was that I met as "the new kid" in DeSoto all those years ago. She was pretty, outgoing, and seemed like she would almost cry if she thought anyone was really troubled. I've never met anyone quite like my old friend Jan Bowen. God blessed me with you as a friend, Jan. I'll see you when I get home.
