Josephine “Josie” Patterson was born in St. Louis on July 5, 1943 a daughter to Hilda (nee Riddle) and Joseph Copeland. She died at her De Soto home on April 17, 2013 at the age of 70. She is survived by her husband John Patterson. Josie and John were married on a snowy February 27, 1960 at Luckey Baptist Church; she is also survied by her four daughters: Anita (Ken) Knearem, Tower Hill, IL, Patricia (James) Schumer, Plymouth, MN, Joan (Eric) Dunlap, Hillsboro, and Margie (Shane) Kuykendall, Festus; grandchildren: Tristan, Shane, Amanda, Austin, John Robert, Betty, Monica, Colleena, and Shannon; great-grandchildren: Harper, Piper, Ryker, Alexa, Ammilia, Megan, Madison, Kurtis, and Mason; a sister: Pearl (Gene) Frost, De Soto; half-sisters: Sandy (Rick) Anderson, St. John, Mae (Danny) Wartenbe, Arnold, Jeanette (Butch) Waters, St. Louis, Mary (Steve) Clame, Alton, IL, Helen (Mark) Sauchegraw, Hopewell, MO; Margaret (Al) Depke, Arnold, MO; and Jane Boyer, Potosi; one half-brother: John Boyer, Jr., Potosi; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend Judy Sansoucie, De Soto. She is preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents who raised her and her sister: Josepn N. and Pearl (Drennen) Copeland; one great-grandson: Jordan Fox; a half-sister: Barb Harris; and two half-brothers: Jerome Copeland and James Copeland. Josie worked as a clerk for several area grocery stores and most recently for the De Soto Dollar General Store. Her nephew Dr. Darrell Gwaltney will officiate the services.
