Darrell was a quality guy, great friend and pilot. He joined our Blue Bird Flying Club and became our Treasurer for a number of years. He loved to fly to Iowa football games with whomever he could talk into going with him. He was always dedicated to learning and in the last years was working on an instrument rating. His love for cats was quite evident if ever you had the privilege of visiting him at home and sitting by his pool. We will miss Darrell. Blue skys and tail winds my friend.

We will always remember Darrell and his enormous love of animals. We still are the lucky parents of Ben. We know how difficult it was for Darrell to part with him. Darrell, Fran and. I (Patty) served the homeless with great pleasure a few years back. Along with his love for animals he loved to fly. He and our son Patrick (Navy pilot) did a flight together that Darrell got a big kick out of. We also horse camped together. We always had a fun time. Fran and I would ride and Rick and Darrell would chew the fat. Lol. He will be greatly missed by us and the animals he cared for.
