Alfred J. Schlett was born February 26, 1932 in De Soto, MO. He was the son of Frank and Olive (nee Hearst) Schlett. He died on August 13, 2012 at his residence in Hillsboro, MO at the age of 80 years 5 months 18 days. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (nee Long) Schlett, Hillsboro, MO; children, Karen (Daniel) Wood, De Soto, MO; Diane (Richard) Gonzales, Hillsboro, MO; Michael (Sandie) Schlett, Biloxi, MS; Mary Ann (David) Blum, De Soto, MO; Jeannie (Don) Goff, De Soto, MO; William (Crezilda) Schlett, Radcliff, KY; Sara (Heath) Allison, Festus, MO; Jeff Schlett, Connecticut; Glenda Schlett, Festus, MO; Juanita (Tom) Kindred, Beaver Falls, PA; Bradley Schlett, Hillsboro, MO; Sasha Schlett, Hillsboro, MO; Shirley Schlett, Hillsboro, MO; Andrea (Richard) Rice, Cedar Hill, MO; and Leona Robnett, St. Charles, MO; siblings, Walter (Pauline) Schlett, Hillsboro, MO; Sr. Anna Schlett, S.J., St. Louis, MO; Wilma (the late James)Stroup, St. Louis, MO; 38 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Joyce Schlett; three sisters, Myrtle (Don) Bequette, Margaret (Francis) Buehn, and Gladys (Gordon survives) Redfield; he also raised and assisted care of 47 foster children. Al was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, De Soto, MO; B.P.O.E. #689; Knights of Columbus #1185; Army Reservist through the Railroad; he was a retired Carman Inspector for Union Pacific Railroad; owned Lucky Strike Bowling Alley; he was founder and served as Secretary/Treasurer of MO-Pac Credit Union. As an expression of sympathy memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association or St. Rose of Lima Adopt-An-Angel.
