I didn't know Walter well. I met him a few times, always a friendly smile. I know his Daughter Anna (she is more of a sister than a friend) My prayers are here for the family.

In March of 2013, my sister and I visited Grandpa at his house. We asked him about his childhood and also the meanings of his tattoos. He had two tattoos that were related to the Army/Korean War and a few others. When we asked about one specific tattoo, he shrugged his shoulders and smiled about it but would not let us look at it closely. We already knew what the tattoo was, but we found it funny to ask about it (grandpa found it funny too).
When my sister and I asked Grandpa about his childhood, he shared with us he had two pigs. I said, "What were the pig's names Grandpa?" to which he replied, "Well, I just called em Pig!" He then shared with us that he would sit in the field and whistle for his pigs. They would come up beside him, one on each side, and sit with him.
While my sister was talking to Grandpa and had his attention, I snapped a picture of him. I showed him the picture and his response was, "That would be a good picture if I didn't look pregnant!" His beer belly was clearly visible. After I showed him this picture, I also showed him pictures of Ava. When he saw these pictures, his face lit up and he was excited to ask us how she was doing.
Just thought I'd share these memories with everyone about Samantha and I's visit with our Great Grandpa. I know I will cherish them forever and I am sure you will too.
Love you Grandpa!

Walter/Margaret/& Family: May the memories you have keep your soul full and
the love that surrounds you help your heart heal. The heart remembers most what it
has loved best. May memories comfort you and bring you peace.
