Roma D. Hickerson was born on February 29, 1940 in Eddyville, KY.  She was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Agnes (nee Fox) Calhoun.  She died on August 21, 2023 at her home in De Soto, MO at the age of 83.

Roma is survived by her children, Ronald Short of DeSoto, MO; Ramona “Gail” (Dennis) Nickle of Fredericktown, MO;  Rebecca Dawn De Rousse of De Soto, MO;  Rochelle “Shelly” Brenner of Blackwell, MO; Jonathon Short of De Soto, MO; and Cary (Andrea) Hickerson of Denver, CO; her step-children: Patrick (Sissy) Hickerson of Oklahoma City, OK;  Dee (Jim) Lewis of Godfrey, IL; Mike Hickerson of CO; and Kelly Hickerson of TX; one sister, Donnie Leach of Litchfield, IL; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence Hickerson; one grand-daughter, April K. Nickle; son-in-law, Steven Brenner; and two brothers, Charles Calhoun and Michael Calhoun.  

Roma was a retried secretary for the Jefferson County Commissioners Office.  She also volunteered at Cravens Bay Campground in Kentucky for 19 years, member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Amvets Post #48 Auxiliary, past President of De Soto Elks Lodge 689 Ladies Auxiliary, and Beta Signa Phi.
