Richard Paul Nelson Sr. was born in Dubuque, Iowa on April 4, 1954. He died December 13, 2013 at the Mercy Hospital-Jefferson at the age of 59. He served in the United States Air Force in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He worked as a stocker for the De Soto Wal-Mart Store. He is survived by his step father: Ivan Baker, De Soto; three sons Richard Paul Nelson II, Arnold, James Nelson, Arnold, and Jason Pruitt, Sr., Arnold; eleven grandchildren: Jason, II, Trevor, Andrew, Trinity, Jordan, Jacob, Tyler, Brandon, Elijah, Ashley, and Carter; and five sisters: Kathy Stevens, Dawn King, Rhonda Schaefer, Lori True, and Stacy Martorano. He is preceded in death by his mother: Joyce (nee Dugan) Baker; his wife: Cheryl Nelson; and a son Dale Davis. He was a life member of VFW Post 1831, De Soto, MO
