Norman Hardimann Garrett was born in Albany, AL on June 18, 1920 a son to Joseph Benjamin “J. Ben” and Willie Ethel (nee Hardimann) Garrett. He died April 12, 2015 at the Bethesda Dilworth Skilled Nursing Community at the age of 94. He is survived by two sons: Steve (Sandy) Garrett, Oakville, and Phil (Regina) Garrett, Florissant; two grandchildren: Jocelyn (Joshua) Schuh and Andrea Garrett; one great-grandchild: Ethan Derienzo; and one brother: Ralph Garrett, Valles Mines. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Virginia A. “Ginny” Garrett; two sisters: Wilma Tesreau and Wanda Johnson; and two brothers: Howard Garrett and Melvin Garrett. A long time resident of Bellfountaine Neighbors he retired from Granite City Steel where he worked in the Public and Labor Relations Departments and published the company newsletter. A World War II Veteran of the United States Army he was also very a very active member of the Northside Christian Church-Disciples of Christ, the Pasedina Players Theater Group and wrote poetry.
