Myrtle Smiley was born in Petttis County, MO on March 7, 1917 a daughter to John William and Mary Elizabeth (nee Killion) Butts.  She died at her De Soto residence on August 10, 2011 at the age of 94.  She is survived by her husband of 72 years Harrell Wallace Smiley; one son: John W. (Donna) Smiley, Gilbert  AZ; three daughters Marilyn E. (Barry) Ellis, De Soto, Susanne (James)  Kessler, Winona Lake, IN, and Beverly (Richard) Varner, Denison, KS; thirteen grandchildren and seventeen  great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her siblings: Anna Mae Hadden and John William Butts.  She was a homemaker and taught piano in her Houstonia, MO home for over 60 years.  Mrs. Smiley also voluteered with the Pettis County 4-H and was a charter member of the Houstonia Community Church. The service will be officiated by Pastor Alan Morse with burial to follow in the Houstonia Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to Jefferson Regional Hospice; P.O.
