Melvin James Souders was born in Centralia, IL on November 19, 1943 a son to Melvin E. and Pauline D. Souders.  He died at Mercy Hospital Jefferson on November 30, 2022 at the age of 79.  He is survived by his wife Laura M. Souders who lives in De Soto; three children: James (Sherri) Souders, De Soto, Robert “Bob ” (Sherry) Souders, Herculaneum and Amber (Chris) Bargetzi, Fenton; five grandchildren: Austin James Souders, Madison Grace Souders, Connor James Hudson, Wyatt Robert Hudson and Tyler Christian Bargetzi and one sister Paula Sue Bowman, Wentzville.  He is preceded in death by his parents and one grandson Christopher Kyle Souders.  Melvin served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  After his retirement from Ameren as a Senior Project Estimator he then went to work for ADESSA and had also worked as a greeter at Festus Wal-Mart. Melvin was a member De Soto Masonic Lodge #119 A.F. & A.M., Dillon Chapter #19 O.E.S., B.P.O.E. #689 and the Hyway Rockers Car Club.
