Launa Jean (Sinclair) Brinley, age 84, of Hillsboro, MO, passed away 1/31/2025, at Scenic Nursing and Rehab Center in Herculaneum, Missouri.
She was born on December 26, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Gladys (nee Jobe) and Vernon Sinclair, and sister to John (Linda) Sinclair. She was a 1958 graduate of Potosi High School and a longtime coworker at Public Water Supply District #7 where she retired as manager.
Launa was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, the late Eddie (Ed) Brinley for over 61 years before he passed in June 2023. She was a mother to Angela (Joe) Tyron of Carolina Beach, Dianna (Keith) Perren of Ware, Missouri, and Mark (Christine) Brinley of Imperial, Missouri.
She loved spending time with her eight grandchildren: Katelyn (Matt) Bilin, Nathan (Lauren) Tyron, Madelyn (Austin) Wilfong, Hannah (Matt) Pierce, Jaclyn (Joe) Thomas, Morgan Brinley, Zachary (Bailee) Perren, and Graham Brinley. She also had seven great-grandchildren: Jameson, Juno, Grayson, Autumn, Idun, Mara, and Kenna. Extended family included five nephews, three nieces, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
In 1962, Ed and Launa were wed in Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Potosi, Missouri. Their marriage was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, trust, respect, and was an unbreakable bond built on their shared faith in God. They stood side by side, taking great joy in the good times, drawing strength from one another in the hard times, and simply making each other happy. Together they created a nurturing and loving Christian home where their children, Angela, Dianna, and Mark, were raised with care, kindness, and a deep appreciation for Christian values and the importance of family.
Launa was a member of Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church where she served in many capacities. She served for decades as a beloved worship leader, leading the congregation in a wide array of classic hymns and songs. Launa would often sing solos and duets, such as Precious Memories, In The Garden, and Mansion Over the Hilltop. She also led annual Christmas and Easter choir programs to great acclaim; all to Jesus’ glory. Even so, her true passion was children’s ministry where she served as a teacher in Sunday School, Children’s Church, Vacation Bible School, and Good News Club.
Launa loved family time, laughing, and having fun. She enjoyed playing board games with family and friends – the sillier the better. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren where every overnight sleepover was a celebration of stories, songs, movies, trips to McDonald’s, and flying kites in the backyard. Launa loved a good shopping trip and the fellowship and laughter that came with it. From shopping trips with her close friend Judy, to annual Black Friday shopping with her daughters and granddaughters, shopping was truly a bonding experience.
Launa was the epitome of a good Christian woman who will be missed dearly. Her kindness, good humor, and incredible sense of joy was contagious and will be remembered by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org/get-involved-now/donate).
