Brett Marie Hogan, 56, St. Louis

Born in St. Louis, MO on July 23rd, 1965, to Tim (since deceased) and Judy Hogan, Brett Marie Hogan passed away at SLU Hospital in St. Louis on May 28th, 2022. She was in the loving presence of her sisters, Darcy Koch and Greer (Patrick) Bellomy and, just prior to that, sister Ann (Dennis) Patriquin, all of whom spent extensive time at her bedside and were a comfort to her in the end. Brett is also survived by five brothers, Sean, Kyle (Janie), Drew, Paige, and Josh (Michele) Hogan, seven nieces and nephews, and the cat she doted on–cats being a passion of hers–Fritz.

Although a home health aide most recently, Brett was a Class of ’83 grad of Hillsboro High School before graduating with a degree in journalism from Southeast Missouri State (Cape Girardeau), where she worked as an on-air radio personality and, after graduation, a reporter. Ever a fan of the quirky and colorful, Brett was sometimes described as a female Hunter S. Thompson. Another gig she strongly identified with was on the Mississippi riverboat The President. A fixture of the Soulard community, Brett was an accomplished songwriter and guitarist while co-organizing various events.

In lieu of a funeral or burial, her remains have been cremated and her life celebrated in a private gathering of her family. A unique personality who was always looking out for others, she left us too soon and will be sorely missed!
