Marion Joseph “Joe” Courtaway was born in Blackwell on August 24, 1929 a son to Edward and Estellene (nee Boyer) Courtois. He died at his De Soto home on November 11, 2022 at the age of 93. He is survived by two daughters Connie Leas, De Soto and Carol Shelley, Pevely; three grandchildren: David (Lisa) Leas, De Soto, Jacob (Sarah) Shelley, Haymarket, VA and Nathan Shelley, Mapaville; six great grandchildren: Isabella, Christopher, Andrew (Jordyn), Hadleigh, Landon and Colton and two great great grandchildren: Parker and Macklyn. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Nedra (nee Scott) Courtaway; two son in laws: David Leas and David Shelley; a granddaughter Christina Leas; one sister: Freda Courtois and four brothers: John Courtois, Walter Courtois, James Courtois and Charles Courtois. Joe served in the Unites States Marine Corps during the Korean War, had retired as a bricklayer and then worked delivering auto parts for the Napa Auto Parts store in De Soto. When Joe wasn’t working he enjoyed spending time  in his boat on the river running trotlines.
