Jerry L. Owen was born September 20, 1935 in Illmo, MO a son to Capt. Louis H. and Bessie (nee Baker) Owen. He died October 17, 2013 at the deGreeff Hospice House in St. Louis County at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Barbara (nee Bond) Owen; one daughter: Melanie (Chris) Osborn, St. Louis; one son: Christopher Owen, St. Louis; and 5 grandchildren: Erin (Steve) Schmidt, Conrad Osborn, Emelia Osborn, Elani Owen, and Alison Owen. He is preceded in death by his parents. After serving in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U. S. Army he completed his degree in Political Science at Memphis State University. He then became a teacher in the Oran, MO school district and later became the Principal. He then worked for the Missouri State Hospital at Farmington before coming to the De Soto Public school district where he served in many capacities before his retirement in 1990.
