Francis LaVonne “Sonny” Kennedy was born June 30, 1941 in St. Louis a son to Eli Frank and Helen (nee Close) Kennedy. He died September 18, 2015 at Mercy Hospital-Jefferson at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife Phyllis (nee Lewis) Kennedy. Sonny and Phyllis were married on June 30, 1961, They have two children: Sherri (Wade) McKee, St. Peter’s and Jeff (Cathy) Kennedy, Crystal City; two granddaughters: Sasha Kennedy and Lane McKee; and one grandson: Seth McKee. Also surviving are three sisters: Rometta Kennedy, Festus, Brenda (Bill) Reando, Bloomsdale and Donnie Cosgrove, Affton. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters: Lavella Ostrieker and Ina Rigger. Sonny retired from the Chrysler automobile assembly plant in Fenton and then went on to have a 18 year career as an agent for Century 21/Heartland Realty. He was a member of the U.A.W. and First Baptist Church-De Soto. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the First Baptist Church-De Soto Benevolence Fund, 400 Boyd St., De Soto, MO 63020 . Rev. Dr. Jeremy Muniz will officiate the funeral service.
