Floyd “Pate” Sylvester Ladd was born June 26, 1926 in De Soto, MO. He was the son of Sylvester Issac and Stella (nee Johnson) Ladd. He died on September 3, 2015 at his daughter’s residence in Festus, MO at the age of 89 years. He is survived by his children, Cindy (Denny) Wall, Festus, MO; Linda Partney, Festus, MO; Connie (Richard) Portell, Festus, MO; and Sherry Vogt, Nixa, MO; one sister, Mary Mitchell, De Soto, MO; 13 grandchildren, twenty four great-grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Theresa Ladd, Old Mines. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Verda Lucille (nee Henry) Ladd; three sisters, Sylvia Datillo, Dorothy Brinkman, and Margaret Moore; one brother, Thomas Ladd; one grandson, Scott Portell; two sons-in-law, George Vogt and John Partney; four brothers-in-law, Tony Datillo, Edward “Spud” Brinkman, Clifton “Red” Mitchell, and Edward “Bud” Moore. Pate worked as a carpenter for Fred Weber Construction Company. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War; he was a member of AmVets Post #48, VFW Post #1831, Carpenter’s Local #5, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
