Doris Cowan Hubbard was born on November 18, 1932 in Crystal City, a daughter to Bertha (nee Ussery) and Ray Cowan. She died on October 23, 2015 at Bethesda Southgate Nursing Home in St. Louis at the age of 82. She was recently preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Herbert “Boots” Hubbard. She is survived by three children: Steve Hubbard, Linda Hubbard Seibold and John Hubbard; five grandchildren: Christopher Seibold, Mark Seibold, Patrick Hubbard, Jackson Hubbard and Megan Hubbard. She is also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Laverne Ussery and Virginia Leutzinger. She worked at Jefferson College for 22 years and was Controller at the time of her retirement in 1991. She was salutatorian of her high school class and a life learner, earning an Associate of Arts Degree at age 44 and an Associate of Applied Science Degree at age 47. She achieved a 4.0 GPA of Arts Degree at age 44 and an Associate of Applied Science Degree at age 47. She achieved a 4.0 GPA for both degrees. Doris was an excellent seamstress, card player and water skier. As an adult she also learned to paint and play the piano. She was quiet in nature, a person of high integrity, full of kindness and thoughtfulness. She was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church. The family wishes to thank the staff of both Bethesda Southgate and St. Anthony’s Hospice for their loving care of Doris.
