Donald Lee Coffey, Sr., 91 of Bonne Terre, MO died on May 28, 2020 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Mr. Coffey retired from General Motors, and he loved to comment “he was retired longer than he worked”. He continued cattle farming and raising tobacco before moving back to Missouri. Donald loved hunting and fishing and liked to think of himself as the “Deer Slayer”.  He served in the United States Army during WWII.  Donald was a Past Master of  Stafford Lodge #562 F & AM Fitchburg, KY and was also a member of UAW Local 2164.

He was the son of James Harold Coffey and Myrtle (nee Cox) (step-father, Roscoe) Hartsock.

He is survived by his three daughters, Wanda “Bittie” (John) Peters of De Soto; Sharleen (Mike) Peters of Bonne Terre; and Kathy Wilson of Richmond, KY; one brother, Harold Coffey of St. James, MO; nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather; his wife, Paula J. (nee Carter) Coffey; his son, Donald “Bug” Coffey, Jr.; one brother, Nelson Coffey; and a grandson Jerry Michael Peters and a great-grandson Josh Politte.
