Dean Alan Terry was born in De Soto on July 15, 1948 a son to Joan (nee Redfield) and Robert “Bob” Terry, Sr. He died at his Hillsboro home on January 7, 2018 at the age of 69. He is survived by his mother who lives in De Soto; his wife of 49 years Judie (nee Koch) Terry of Hillsboro; one daughter: Deana (Chris) Roland, Hillsboro: two sons: Travis Terry, De Soto, and Cody Terry, De Soto; four grandchildren: Aiden Roland, Halle Roland, Evie Roland, and Julia Terry; one sister: Kathleen “Kathy” Terry, Kansas City, MO; and one brother: David Terry, Valles Mines. He is preceded in death by his father; and two brothers: Robert “Bobby” Terry, Jr. and Gary Terry.
Dean worked as a delivery driver for Pepsi for twenty years then began training quarter horses full time. Known as the “Round Man with a Square Deal” he operated Dean Terry Quarter Horses, training, showing, and trading horses throughout the country. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, the American Cutting Horse Association, Knights of Columbus #1185 and B.P.O.E. #689. A celebration of Dean’s life will be scheduled at a later date.
