Darrell Wesley Grobe was born in Festus on July 27, 1932 a son to Lester August and Mary Jane (nee Vinyard) Grobe. He died on May 17, 2014 at his Festus home at the age of 81. He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Jackie (nee Yiatras) Grobe; three sons: Lester Dennis (Teresa Mitchell) Grobe, Horine, Bill Grobe, Festus, and Tim (Trina) Grobe, Eureka; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Shirley (John) Hunt, Festus, and Evabel Baldwin, Kennesaw, GA; and one brother: Gerald (Sue) Grobe, Festus. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law: Jerri Grobe; three sisters: Betty Lewis, Isabel Probst, and Marie Dallas; and two brothers: Paul Grobe and Dallard Grobe. He worked until his retirement for Goodwin Brothers Construction Company. With his wife he had also owned and operated the Jack and Jill Store in Festus and the North End Tavern in De Soto.
