Clifton W. “Cliff” Cooper was born in Poplar Bluff on November 29, 1919 a son to Elmer and Virgie (nee Jones) Cooper. He died on June 9, 2015 at Mercy Hospital-Jefferson at the age of 95. After serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in the Mechanical Department and was also an agent for the American Family Insurance Company. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Verna (nee Pillen) Cooper; two sisters Leona
Thomas and Irene Ward; and one brother Wilford Cooper. Survivors include three sisters: Mabel Clendenin, Cape Girardeau, Jewel Webb, Springfield, and Barbara Strader, Selma, Oregon; two brothers: Jerry (Almeda) Cooper, Conyers, GA and Jack (Grace) Cooper, Duncanville, TX; a sister-in-law, Aviral Cooper, Columbia, MO; and several nieces and nephews. He was a faithful member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, De Soto, and De Soto Lodge #119 AF & AM who will hold a service on Thursday at 6:30PM. Brother Wayne Gibson will officiate the funeral service.
