Bernard O’Brien was born July 19, 1922 near Cedar Hill a son to Arthur and Susan (nee McNamee) O’Brien.  He died July 13, 2012 at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center at the age of 89.  He is survived by two children: Bernard W. “Buddy” (Debra) O’Brien, Hillsboro and  Joyce (Larry) Uelsmann, Benton; three grandchildren: Tina Barrale, Chris O’Brien, and Beth Figueroa; six great-grandchildren: Tyler, Cassie, Caleb, Brennan, Seth, and Lena Marie; three siblings Loretta Hardt, High Ridge, Bill (Marie) O’Brien, De Soto, and Bernice Markham, High Ridge.  He is preceded in death by his wife Lena Marie (nee Wynn) O’Brien and siblings Ed O’Brien, Arthur O’Brien, and Margaret Kuese.  A life-long farmer Mr. O’Brien served in the Army’s 67th Armored Division during World WarII as a tank crewman where he was awarded 6 Bronze Stars for Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe, Northern France, Normandy, and the Sicilian Campaigns as well as a Purple Heart. Following the funeral mass at Good Shepherd Catholic Church,  Hillsboro, interment with full military honors will be in the Calvary Cemetery, De Soto.
