Arlie Elizabeth Hopper was born February 26, 1933 in Round Spring, MO. She was the daughter of Ben and Ethel (nee Weese) Atchison. She died on April 18, 2013 in De Soto, MO at the age of 80 years old. She is survived by her children, Herschel Edward (Julie) Smith, Arnold, MO; Andrea Yates, De Soto, MO; Greg (Rachel) Smith, High Ridge, MO; and Laura (Jim) O’Neal, De Soto, MO; grandchildren, Harley, Jacob, Daniel, Faith, Angela, Danielle, Gregory, Katie, Megan, and Colleen; great-grandchildren, Eli, Payton, Josiah, Malachi, Lehla, Mason, and Amelia; siblings, Earl (Ruth) Atchison, Stuart, FL, Joe (Geraldine) Atchison, Ft. Branch, IN; Jewel Gay (Ralph) Henson, St. Peters, MO; sister-in-laws, Ann Atchison, Lee’s Summit, MO and Mary Jane Atchison, Poplar Bluff, MO; brother-in-law, Norman Alexander, St. Ann, MO. Arlie was a nanny to Laura Rix and Natalie Meyer of St. Louis, MO; and “mother to many”. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Arthur Hopper; siblings, Clara Barney, Daisy Bisi, Oscar Atchison, Clyde Atchison, Eugene Atchison, Lyndell Atchison, Violet Riggs, Opal Alexander, and Frank Atchison. She was a long time member of the First Free Will Baptist Church,De Soto, MO; the De Soto Senior Center, and Joy Makers. As an expression of sympathy memorials may be made to the Joy Makers at First Free Will Baptist Church, 1401 South 5th St., De Soto, MO 63020.
