William Franklin Fortner, Sr. was born January 5, 1936 in Nashville, TN. He was the son of Milburn O. and Daisey (nee Grogan) Fortner. He passed on July 6, 2019 at his residence in St. Charles, MO at the age of 83 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary Anne (nee Voght) Fortner, St. Charles, MO; son, James (Lauvena) Fortner, Cedar Hill, MO; daughter, Kim (Jim) Knox, Guthrie, OK; daughter-in-law, Melissa Fortner, Eureka, MO; brothers, Robert (Rose) Fortner, Springfield, MO; and Roger (Molly) Fortner, Collinsville, IL; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; also survived by his step-children, Dan (Sharon) Russell Florrisant, MO; Mary Duryea, St. Charles, MO; and Sue (Dave) Walter, Scottsdale, AZ and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents; and one son, William Fortner, Jr.  William was a maintenance machinist at ABB; and also worked as a mechanical supervisor at American Can. He was a member of Machinist Union Lodge#41, Bridgeton, MO; Teamsters from ABB; B.P.O.E. Lodge #2651, St. Clair, MO; K of C #823, St. Charles, MO; Masonic Lodge # 609 A.F. & A.M. , Warrenton, MO; he also served in the Army National Guard. As an expression of sympathy memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
