Vernon Leslie “Rick” Thomas was born in St. Louis on October 5, 1948 a son to Dewey and Betty (nee Dawd) Thomas. He died on December 13, 2021 at his Victoria home at the age of 73. Rick served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War having earned many Decorations including the Bronze Star. He then transferred to the Missouri National Guard and served 20 years including 14 years for the Color Guard until his retirement. Rick was a flooring installer having worked for Smitty’s Home Decorating and Hopkins Carpet. He is survived by his wife Sharon (nee Lang) Thomas of Victoria. Sharon and Rick were married on March 15, 1980. Also surviving is a daughter Sherry Stuthers, Victoria; three sons: Robert (Shery) Lang, Potosi, James Meadows, Van Buren, and Dave Meadows, Saffell, AR; 12 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister Christy Nieman, De Soto and two brothers: Tracy Thomas, TN and Mark Thomas, St. Louis County, MO. He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Troy Thomas, Dennis Thomas, and Todd Thomas.
