Robert H. Filkins, Sr. was born in De Soto on January 20, 1936 a son to Hulda Mae (nee Hardin) and Frank Filkins. He died at his De Soto home on January 10, 2015 at the age of 78 after a battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his children: Bob Filkins, Jr., New Bloomfield, Terry Filkins, St. Louis, Donna Filkins, St. Charles, Tim Filkins, High Ridge, Cathy (Steve, Jr.) Sinkler, O’Fallon, MO, and Tom (Karen) Filkins, High Ridge; six grandchildren: Sarah (Chuuuck) Gardner, John Filkins, Steve Sinkler, III., Ryan Sinkler, Tessa Filkins, and Kayla Filkins; two great-grandchildren: Paxten and Aven Gardner; and a brother: Roy Filkins, St. Louis. He is preceded in death by his parents; two wives: Barbara (nee Horvath) Filkins and Myrtle (nee Rawson) Pettus-Filkins; one brother: Richard “Dick” Fillkins; and two sisters-in-law: Betty Filkins and Eleanor Filkins. He owned and operated General Auto Service, an Auto Body Shop, in St. Louis until his retirement and then moved back to De Soto. He was a member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church.
