Norma June Hoelzel was born November 26, 1930 in Litchfield, IL a daughter to Arnold M. and Edna Lurene (nee Chamberlain) Viehman. She died on March 6, 2016 at the Villa’s in De Soto at the age of 85. She is survived by her husband Charles Frederick Hoelzel of De Soto. Charles and Norma were married on December 22, 1951 in De Soto. Also surviving are four daughters: Margie (Doug) Urban, De Soto, Joy (Scott) Graves, De Soto, Jan (Stan) Fauth, De Soto, and Marilyn (Don) Hamilton, Bowling Green; nine grandchildren: Matt (Liz) Byrde, Cara (Jason) Bergman, Dustin (Courtney) Hamilton, Andrew (Heather Hampton) Hamilton, Patrick (Casey) Graves, Sara (Luke) Adams, Bradley Graves, Morgan Fauth, and Grant Fauth; five great-granddaughters: Lucy Bergman, Caroline Bergman, Ellen Byrde, Abigail Adams, and Lena Graves; one sister: Shirley Jean Viehman Mills, Branson; one brother: Jack Arnold (Louise) Viehman, De Soto, and two brother-in-laws, Benno M. Hoelzel and Lindell G. “Pete” Hoelzel. She was prececed in death by her brother, James Robert Viehmna and step sister, Margaret Louise Bradford. Norma taught fifth grade at Vineland and Athena Elementary Schools. She was an author having published four books on local history and a textbook on the process of thought. Along with her husband Charles she also enjoyed performing music. She was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church.
