Leona Tyrey Thornhill was born in Piedmont on February 20, 1915 a daughter to Clarence and Annie (nee LaPee) Tyrey. She died at Baisch Nursing Center in De Soto on May 29, 2017 at the age of 102. During World War II she worked at Knapp-Monarch, a defense contractor, in support of the war effort. She then worked at De Soto Shoe Factory until she married Donald Thornhill on September 19, 1953. She is survived by one daughter: Linda Malloy, St. Louis, MO and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son-in-law: Paul Malloy, and a sister: Marie Tyrey.
