John R. Dawes, De Soto, died July 12, 2008 at Hillcrest Care Center at the age of 84. He was born January 4, 1924, the son of the late Louey Triplet Dawes and Alta Williams Dawes Simpson.  He is survived by his two sons: John L. “Pete” (Donna) Dawes of De Soto, and Tom (Jackie Breder) Dawes of De Soto; six grandchildren: Tom J. (Monica) Dawes, Lisa Dawes, Julie (Josh) Wigger, Katie Dawes, Tosca (Ceilee) Sandhill, and Lori Beth Breder; one great-grandchild Taivyn Sandhill and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara M. “Dutty” Dawes; a sister Sarah “Sadie” Govero; and a great-grandson, Michael Dawes.  A graduate of De Soto High School Class of 1941, John was a World War II veteran of the United States Army and retired from Southwestern Bell.  He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, past President and volunteer of the De Soto Little League, past De Soto City Councilman; and member AmVets Post #48 and the Cardinal Glennon Assembly of the Knights of Columbus.
