Mrs. Meyer was my 1st grade teacher-- at the time though she was Ms. Hammond. (Because my mom was a teacher in the building, we were invited to her wedding. I felt like the luckiest kid alive to get to see my teacher get married. I put a monogrammed napkin from the reception in a scrapbook and I believe I still have it today.) She did a great job helping us in that 1st grade year -- transitioning from kindergarten to the big school. She was fun in the classroom, and I remember that year fondly. I have lost another piece of my childhood. Jimmie Sue, and the entire Hammond family, were part of my family. My memories are flooding back to me along with my tears.
