My roommate in college became an Army Chaplain. He died several years ago. He sent me this when I had A death in my family. I thought I would pass it on to you.
I am standing on the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says:
"There she is gone"
"Gone Where?"
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in the mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me,not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says,"There, she is gone!"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout:
"HERE SHE COMES!"
AND THAT IS DYING.
May God Bless

We found this poem in my brother's pocket after he passed and it has been a comfort to me in all that have passed since. It is a Hopi Indian prayer.
Do not stand by my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am a diamond glint on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle Autumn rain. When you awake in the morning hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circling flight. I am the soft starshine at night. Do not stand by my grave and cry, I am not there...I did not die. Love to you and family. Maebelle

Mary and Family,
We were so sorry to hear about your loss. Harold was a wonderful man. I spoke with him a couple of times on the phone and could tell that he was a very special man. You could tell that he would/had touched many hearts and would be missed by many when the good Lord called him home.
I hope this poem brings you and your family a feeling of peace in your time of need. I wrote it about 13 years ago after losing an aunt.
Think of...
Stepping on a beautiful shore, and finding
It to be heaven!
Of taking hold of a loving hand and finding
It to be God's hand!
Of breathing a new refreshing air and finding
It to be a celestial air!
Of feeling invigorated and finding
It to be immortality!
Of passing though a tempest storm
To an unbroken calm!
Of waking up and finding
You're Home!
Your family is in our prayers!
Hugs ~ The Hendrix Family
