Grace Marie Sutton Manley. July 31, 1941- April 17, 2026.
Rio Linda, CA. Grace Marie Sutton Manley, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, returned to her Heavenly Father on the morning of Friday, April 17, 2026. Her desire was to pass away at home and she did. She will be dearly missed.
Born to George Albert Sutton Sr. and Helen Bessie Hampton Sutton and raised in DeSoto, Missouri, Grace grew up with a close relationship to her parents, particularly her mother Helen Bessie. Grace loved her siblings and having a best friend just down the street. She attended DeSoto public schools and graduated from DeSoto High School in 1959. Grace attended nursing school in St. Louis.
She married Donald Manley and followed him to California. To the union were born two children David and Donna. Grace loved her children and was proud of their accomplishments. At the end of her life, she was ready to join her family, especially Donna, in Heaven.
Grace was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a Job’s Daughter, a girl scout and a girl scout leader, Grace loved the outdoors and camped with her husband and children when they were young. She was proud of where she was from and considered herself a Missourian although she had been gone from there for several decades. She loved good food. Ribs, meatloaf, burgers, tomato soup with grilled cheese and cake were favorites. She loved animals and mourned her Chihuahua Dolly since Dolly’s passing a few years ago. Grace was proud of her photo wall in her living room and talked about each person with love and admiration. Not a day went by that she didn’t miss her sweet daughter Donna.
Grace is survived by her son David (Sherry), grandchildren Jake and Desiree, brothers Donald, Victoria, Texas, and John (Lurea) Bonne Terre, Missouri, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Donna, brothers Charles, George Jr., Kenneth, Joe, Clifford, Daniel, Jimmy and sisters Alice Jean, and Charlene.
David and the family would like to thank Tabitha and her other care providers, hospice nurses, her doctors and everyone who had helped her to spend her last days at home.
