Gordon E. Chandler was born in Steelville on April 14, 1928. He died at de Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis County on August 22, 2022 at the age of 94. He is survived by his daughter Deborah (Jack) Thompson, St. Louis; two grandchildren: Jennifer (Matt) Delbert and Mark (Chrissy) Thompson and four great grandchildren: Logan Thompson, Lilliana Marie Nickel, Aidan Delbert and Isabella Delbert. He is preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him Israel and Lula Chandler, his mother Allie Chandler, his wife Berla Jean (nee Blake) Chandler, two sisters: Mary Ann Merritt and Beverly Moore and two brothers Leroy Gilliam and Winford Gilliam. After retiring from Bodine Aluminum Gordon and Jean moved from St. Louis to their farm in the Blackwell area.
