George Russell was born June 5, 1925 in St. Louis. He was the son of Dexter G. and Nellie A. (Pierce) Russell. He died on October 17, 2011 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City, at the age of 86 years 4 months 12 days. He is survived by his son: Wayne (Dorothy) Russell, De Soto: three daughters: Donna Russell, De Soto, Linda (Ronald) Politte, Festus, and Tina (Del) Graham, De Soto; grandchildren, Jason, Brian, Brent, Brad, Brandi, Lindsay, Ryan, and Chelsea; 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Ines “June” Russell and Betty Russell; siblings, Clara Weible, Doloris Siebels, and Floyd Russell. Mr. Russell retired as Highway Superintendent of the Jefferson County Highway Department.  He served in the United States Army during World War II receiving several commendations including a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.  He is a member of the AmVets Post #48 and VFW Post #1831. As an expression of sympathy memorials may be made to the Jefferson Regional Medical Hospice Program.
