Frank L. Smith was born April 5, 1917 in De Soto a son to  Fred W. and Henrietta Margaret (nee Hencher) Smith.  He died on June 1, 2012 at the Baptist Home in Ironton at the age of 95.  He is survived by his wife of 72 years Eva B. (nee Whitsell)  Smith of Ironton; two daughters: Juanita (Gary) Lidholm, Denver, CO, and Linda (Dr. Edwin) Bowe, Nicholasville, KY; two granddaughters: Jayne Ellen Lidholm and Ryan Elizabeth Bowe; one great-grandson: Julian Jayson Tamez; and one sister: Gertrude Christopher.  He is preceded in death by his parents;one grandson: Jason and his wife Jessica Lidholm; and one sister Marie Hager.
Mr. Smith was a graduate of the University of Missouri, an Army veteran of WWII, a farmer, retired as a teacher in the Festus School District, and was a member of First Baptist Church-Festus/Crystal City where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was also past Master of Blackwell Lodge #535 AF &AM, past Worthy Patron of Dillon Lodge #16 OES, past President of Jefferson County RTA and past President Coop Milk Producers.
