Edward J. “Ned” Slattery of Fletcher, formerly of St. Louis, was born March 29, 1936 in Clayton. He passed peacefully on Friday July 31, 2015 at Hillcrest Care Center at the age of 79. Dear husband of Ernestine (nee Cambron) Slattery. Father of four boys, Fr. Kevin Slattery, Jackson, MS; the late James survived by his wife Diane (nee Mattingly), St. Louis; Thomas and his wife Colleen (nee Cochran) Slattery, St. Louis, and Dan Slattery, St. Louis; Grandfather to six: Joshua, Katelyn, Megan, Melissa, Steven and Nathaniel. He was the youngest of eight children born to Maurice and Claire (nee Purdim) Slattery.Two sisters survive: Mary Pipkin, St. Louis and Kate Tesson, St. Louis as well as two sisters-in-law; Georgia Griffith, St. Louis and Shirley Thompson, Florissant. He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Elizabeth “Betty” Harter, Margaret “Mag” Reading, and Charlotte and two brothers: Joseph and Maurice Slattery. He was a member of Teamster’s Local #600. He was a Catholic member of St. Rose of Lima Church in De Soto where a Memorial Mass will be held at a later time.
