Martha A. Reed was born in Chesterfield on August 19, 1944 a daughter to Allen E. and Myrtle M. (nee Miller) Reed.  She died on November 2, 2018 at her Hillsboro home at the age of 74.  Dr. Reed received her  undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and was a Magna Cum Laude graduate of St. Louis University School of Medicine.  Board Certified in Internal Medicine she was a member of The American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine and a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.  Dr. Reed practiced medicine in Jefferson County for over forty years as well as being on staff at Jefferson Memorial (now Mercy-Jefferson) Hospital and the Medical Director for VITAS Hospice. She enjoyed traveling, studying genealogy, and hosting family gatherings, especially at Christmas.  She is survived by two sisters: Marcella Luechtefeld, Glenco, and Mary Jane (Lloyd) Thebeau, Hillsboro; four brothers: David (Janet) Reed, Hillsboro, Robert “Bob” Reed, Hillsboro, Dr. Leslie (Mary Beth) Reed, Hillsboro, and Roger Reed, Hillsboro; two sisters-in-law: Liz Reed, Hillsboro, and Linda Bauman Reed, Hillsboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents; four sisters: Amelia “Dolly” Thomeczek, Helen Hayes Agnello, Sarah  Reed, and Della Reed; four brothers: Don Reed, Eugene “Pete” Reed, Franklin “Frank” Reed, and James Reed; two sisters-in-law: Patricia Reed and Waltraud “Trudy” Reed; and four brothers-in-law: Harold Luechtefeld, Norbert Thomeczek, George Hayes, and Salvatore Agnello.
