Delbert Edward Swanson, 86, died Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at The Villas Nursing Home in De Soto, Missouri. He is survived by his wife of 37 years Carol (Plocar) Swanson; his son, Michael (Christine) Swanson; his daughters, Dody Swanson and Nanci (Rick) Kallaus; his granddaughter, Sunny; his stepsons, Scott (Gerry) Reimer and Daniel (Chris) Freund; his stepgranddaughters, Andrea, Crystal and Courtney; his sister, Dorothy Yates; his former wife, Shirley Noonan; and other relatives and `friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albin and Delphine (Harke) Swanson; and his brother, Marvin Swanson. Delbert is a veteran of the Korean War, where he served as an MP. In his youth, he began to learn bricklaying from his father and helped with the family business. When he returned from the war, he continued to hone his skills as a bricklayer to become a master in his craft. Retiring not once, but twice, he could not stay away from masonry work. He was an early to bed and early to rise man who never shunned hard work. He loved spending time with his family, helping others, being outdoors, hunting, Westerns, barbeque, ice cream, and his beloved dog, Harley. Private burial at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery.
