Colby Nelson Scott, 64, of Hillsboro, MO died on Sunday, October 3, 2021. Colby was proud to have been raised in Victoria and graduated from Hillsboro High School where he was a star athlete in baseball and basketball. He was the third generation owner and operator of the family business, Scott Drilling Company, which drilled and serviced water wells for many residences in Jefferson County starting in 1917. Colby had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. His friends will remember him for his knack of giving endearing nicknames to his loved ones, and he especially enjoyed talking about the history of Jefferson County. Born July 8, 1957, he was the son of Mary Catherine “Khaki” (nee Stroup) and Harold “Short” Scott, and the brother to Victoria “Vicki” Scott Martin. He is survived by three sons, Colby Neil Scott of Farmington, MO,  Connor Scott, Los Angeles, CA, Mitchell Scott of Hillsboro, MO, and Jane Scott, his former spouse, all of whom were caretakers for Colby at the end of his life. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Martin, Roswell, GA, nieces Caitlin (Jared) Santinelli of Roswell, GA and Callie Martin of Hillsboro, MO, along with several other nieces and nephews. As an expression of sympathy memorial donation may be made to: Donations Coordinator, Missouri Department of Conservation, P.O. Box 180, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0180
