Betty J. Olson was born on May 14, 1927 in Middletown, Ohio a daughter to George and Suzanne (Johnson) Egelston She died at the Villa’s on September 18, 2020 at the age of 93.  She is survived by her son Gary (Crickett) Olson, Hillsboro and her daughter Diane (Rev. Trent) Freed, Bedford, IN, four grandchildren Andrea (Jim) Siegfried, Russ (Emily) Olson , Justin Freed, and Jared Freed; two great grandchildren Patrick Siegfried and Lydia Siegfried and a sister Lois Arnold, Middletown OH.  She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Blaine Olson and three sisters: Pearl Linkous, Mae Maines, and Phyllis Schearer.  Mrs. Olson was very active member of the De Soto Community Church of God serving in many capacities at her home church as well as offices at the State and National level. After working for the Dearing, Richeson and Weier Law Firm  she took a position at the De Soto Public Library in 1958. She served as  Library Director  from August of 1962 until her retirement on September 1, 2014.  She was a local authority on genealogy. With her husband Blaine she was also was a member of the Jefferson County Historical Society. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the De Soto Public Library or the De Soto Community Church of God.
