Alec Barrett Burkeen was born November 9, 1991 in St. Louis, MO. He was the son of Jimmie Ray Jr. and Trisha L. (nee Sauer) Burkeen of De Soto, MO. He died on September 23, 2015 in Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of 23 years. He is survived by his parents; one brother, Jimmie Ray Burkeen, III, Alton, IL; grandparents, Jimmie Ray (Virginia) Burkeen, Cadet, MO; Judy Katherine Rice, Bellevue, MO; and Carolyn Sauer, De Soto, MO. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Eugene “Gene” Sauer and grandmother, Geraldine Sauer. Alec worked as a nurses aide for Bayada. He was a graduate of De Soto High School and Jefferson College and currently was a student at the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and working for Naegle-Kleb-Ihlendorf Funeral Home. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to: De Soto Schools at 610 Vineland School Road, De Soto, MO 63020 to purchase a school bench or to Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science at 645 West North Bend Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45224 for a scholarship in memory of Alec. Rev. Dr. Jeremy Muniz will officiate the funeral service.
