William L. Johnson was born on Nov. 21, 1951 in Ironton a son to Patricia (nee Matthews) and John A. Johnson, Sr. He died at Mercy Hospital-Jefferson on August 2, 2017 at the age of 65. He is survived by his wife Sandra (nee Witzke) Johnson. Bill and Sandy were married at Redeemer Lutheran Church in De Soto on May 31, 1975. Also surviving is his son: Will Johnson, De Soto; one granddaughter: Avarae Margaret Johnson, De Soto; one sister: Mary (John) Spindler, Rockford, IL, and four brothers: John A. (Lucy) Johnson, Branson, Jim (Judy) Johnson, St. Louis, Bob (Adelle) Johnson, Ellington, and Tom Johnson, St. Charles. He is preceded in death by his parents. A graduate of Southeast Missouri State Bill taught at South Reynolds County R-II and De Soto Public School Districts before obtaining his Law Degree from Hamlin University. He worked in his law practice in De Soto, he served as Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney; and served many terms on the De Soto School Board. He was a faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Missouri Bar Association and had served as President of the De Soto Rotary Club.
