Calvin Henry Washburn was born July 31, 1924 near Potosi (Rabbit Hollow), a son to John Henry and Leatha Mae (nee Harper) Washburn. He died on January 14, 2013 at The Oaks in Crystal City, at the age of 88 years 5 months 14 days. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Doris K. (nee Roussin) Washburn, De Soto, three children, Jim (Diane) Washburn, De Soto, MO; Dan (the late Nina) Washburn, De Soto, MO; and Barbara (Albert) Craig, De Soto, MO; one sister, Dorothy Roberts, De Soto, MO; grandchildren, Paul (Missy) Craig, St. Peters, MO; Danni (John) Foreman, De Soto, MO, John (Linda) Washburn, Farmington, MO; and Jennifer Washburn, De Soto, MO; 10 Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren; brother-in-law, Robert Ruppert, Ironton, MO. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Patsy Ruppert and Gladys Pauline Washburn; one grandson, Dan Washburn, Jr.; and one brother-in-law William Roberts. He served in the United States Army Railroad Battalion in Inda during World War II. He later worked for Missouri Pacific/Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement as a foreman.
