Carlus Edward Whitter was born February 4, 1947 in St. Louis a son to Marvin J. and Helen (nee Brooks) Whitter. He died December 27, 2012 in Desloge at the age of 65. He is survived by his mother who lives in De Soto; two daughters: Michaelle (Carl) Hall, Desloge and Dawn (Robert) Guenther, Fairview Heights, IL; two grandchildren: Logan Hall and Ethan Recar; four sisters: Merlyn (Thomas) Haley, Hillsboro, Gloria Boyts, De Soto, Pat Dennis, Beggs, OK, and Nancy (Bill) Meyers, Garfield, AR, 5 step grandchildren, 8 step great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, an infant sister, two brothers-in-law: Albert “Bud” Boyts and Bobby Dennis. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War earning several commendations including a Bronze Star. He worked as an automotive machinist for B & S Auto Parts and Berry Auto Parts in De Soto and was owner of C & W Lawn Care. The funeral service, officiated by Nancy Hollingsworth, will be held Sunday, December 30 at 7:00pm. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 – 7:00pm. A graveside service with full military honors will be Monday, December 31 at 10:30am at the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks, The procession to the cemetery will leave the funeral home Monday at 9:30am. |
